Once again, I will be participating in the 2026 11 Day Power Play, an 11-day marathon hockey game that raises money for cancer research and wellness programs. Last year, with your generous support, we raised over $3,300, and throughout the entire event over $10 million was raised by all participants. The dates for the event this year are Wednesday, June 17th, 2026 - Sunday, June 28th, 2026 at LECOM Harborcenter in Buffalo NY.

My purpose for playing this year has taken on new meaning. I am playing for 2 amazing women who I have been blessed to know in my life. The first is in memory of my late wife, Sarah Luke. Sarah loved hockey! Sarah’s life was cut short due to colon cancer. She was only 31 years old. It was very fast and sudden. We were married in August 2018, and she lost her battle with cancer in December of 2020. The other is my fiancee, Jennifer Schram. In October of last year, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and required a mastectomy. It was found on her annual routine mammogram. The new findings were compared to the exam from the year prior and there wasn't even a blip at that time. Fortunately, we believe it was caught early enough and we remain cautiously optimistic. As Jennifer is telling everyone: "Ladies - do not ignore your annual health screenings. They could save your life."

I am proud to have been able to support them during some of the most challenging times of their lives. They are both strong, brave, and sometimes stubborn women. I admire and respect the courage each of them have shown on their journeys.

I am participating in this event not only in honor of Sarah and Jennifer but for all those who have fought, those who have lost, and are continuing to fight cancer in all its forms.

Donations raised will benefit cutting-edge cancer research and wellness programs at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, Camp Good Days, Make-A-Wish Western New York, and The Roswell Park and Oishei Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders Program.

Together, we can continue to make an impact in the search for a cure, and better the lives of those living with cancer. Together we can provide hope for a brighter tomorrow.
