I need your support! I am honored to have been asked to participate in the worlds longest hockey game as 1of 4 on-ice/off-ice officials. I will be refereeing at least 8 hours a day for 11days outdoors in the elements while the #FROZEN40 skate for 252 hours and break the world record! There is also hope for the Community Shift to return, I’ll be ready to captain team Cross Check Cancer for our 4th year! I’ve been a part of this great event since volunteering at the original game and have volunteered and played in the Community Shift ever since. I do this for my family and friends who have fought and survived and those who have lost their battle. My main inspiration comes from my mother Joan’s fight with breast cancer and my brother Andy’s battle with non-Hodgskins lymphoma. Both are survivors. Tragically we lost Andy due to the harm his body endured during his treatments, he was a 24 year survivor. He was an original board member for the 11 Day Power Play and his passion for the event is what drives me. He loved everything this event stands for- family&friends, patient advocacy and of course- HOCKEY! Unfortunately, I have the same story as everyone involved with this, all our lives have been touched by cancer in some way. It’s our goal to #PUTCANCERONICE! Proceeds of the event will support cutting-edge cancer research and wellness programs at Roswell Park, Make-A-Wish WNY, Camp Good Days and Roswell Park and Oishei Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders Program.
