This year is personal for me. I was diagnosed with bladder cancer in July. I had surgery to remove a tumor in August and a follow up biopsy in October. Started 6 treatments of chemo in December. Had a cystoscopy in February and will have to another one every 3 months. I'm blessed to say I'm cancer free at this time.
I want to let you know I fully intend to participate with my team in our 3 hour power play shift in June.
I have been back on the ice the last few weeks and feeling good.
I was treated at Roswell Park Cancer Center which is one of the recipients of our fundraising.
I'm asking for your prayers and support for the 11 Day Power Play. Thank you.
Dear Family, Friends, and FelIow Veterans. I am participating in 2026 11Day Power Play Community Shift, an 11 day marathon hockey game that raises money for cancer research and wellness programs.
I am doing this to help in some small way to honor family, friends, and fellow veterans who have been touched by cancer.
This is my eighth year with the 11 Day Power Play, and thanks to many of you I exceeded my goal every year and hope to do the same again this year with your help.
In the previous 7 years my team has raised over $230,000.
I need your support! I am playing in the #11DPP Community Shift this summer. It will be a grueling three hour shift but nothing compared to what cancer patients endure. Please support me to #PutCancerOnIce. Proceeds of the event will support cutting-edge research and wellness programs at Roswell Park, Make-A-Wish WNY, Camp Good Days, Roswell Park and Oishei Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders Program and The Petey Fund.
