This summer, I am proud to participate in my ninth 11 Day Power Play Community Shift—an event dedicated to raising funds for cancer research and wellness programs.

This year’s event carries even more meaning for me personally. Last year, my dad lost his battle with kidney cancer, and a very close family friend also passed away after his fight with liver cancer. Watching both of them battle this terrible disease showed me incredible strength, courage, and resilience that I will never forget. Their memories are a big part of why I continue to skate and support this cause.

The 11 Day Power Play brings people together to raise money for organizations making a real impact in the fight against cancer, including Roswell Park, Make-A-Wish WNY, Camp Good Days, Oishei Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders Program, and The Petey Fund. I’ll once again be skating a three-hour shift, knowing it’s a small challenge compared to what cancer patients and their families endure every day.
