This year marks the 6th time I'll skate in the 11 Day Power Play Community Shift, an event I look forward to each year. Hockey players are a community unto themselves, and always come together for a good cause. Cancer inevitably touches us all - we all know a friend, colleague or family member who has been in a fight with cancer. May of us have friends, colleagues or family members who have lost that fight. The 11 Day Power Play raises funds to help those in need, to support cutting edge research and to provide resources to families of those fighting cancer.
I'll be skating in memory of my Grandfather, Fred Flynn, whom lost his fight. I'll be skating in honor of my Uncle, Will Trolley. My three-hour shift will be for anyone in the fight.
Please support me to #PutCancerOnIce. Proceeds of the event will support cutting-edge research and wellness programs at Roswell Park, Make-A-Wish WNY, Camp Good Days, Roswell Park and Oishei Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders Program and The Petey Fund.
