This summer I will be participating in the 11 Day Power Play which supports cutting-edge research and wellness programs at Roswell Park, Make-A-Wish WNY, Camp Good Days and Roswell Park and Oishei Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders Program.
Unfortunately, Cancer has always hit close to home. For those who don’t know, My Mother Denise Tardif Lost her battle with Colon Cancer almost 20 years ago on 6/22/2004. She was just 44 years old, I had just turned 9. I have lived my whole life in honor of her in everything I do and hope I have lived up to the standards she instilled in me as a young boy and I continue to make her proud. I prayed for a long time that this would be the only run in I would have personally to cancer. Unfortunately, life got flipped upside down 3 weeks ago when my girl friend Erin O'Connell was diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Thankfully, she's is currently getting treatment at the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in Buffalo, NY where the 11 Day Power Play has raised and donated over 10 Million Dollar too since its inception 7 years ago. Cancer has no rhyme or reason in picking who it directly effects. All I know is it picked the wrong girl this time. Erin, a former D1 athlete at the University at Buffalo, is a young, ambitious, decorated woman who could not be in better shape health wise when this terrible disease decided to consume her body. With that said, I am confident she is in the best hands possible at Roswell. It will be an uphill battle fighting this terrible disease, but she is one of the strongest people I know and I am certain she will come out on the other side of this kicking it’s a** and taking names.
I would appreciate any donations in honor of my Mother, Erin, or anyone you know who has personally been effected by this terrible disease.
