I’m excited to share with you that I once again will be participating in the 11 Day Power Play - Community Shift, an 11-day marathon of hockey games that raises money for cancer research and wellness programs. Cancer is second only to heart disease as the leading cause of death in the United States. This will be the fourth time I have had the honor to play in and be part in this event as it’s my promise to help cancer patients, and I won’t go back on that promise. We all at some point in our lives have had to face this terrible disease, whether directly through family members or friends, or indirectly by supporting those who have. Either way it is a heart-wrenching experience I don’t wish on anyone.
For me specifically, I will be playing in the memory of my mom (Jeannette) and one of my sisters (Deborah), who both passed away from breast cancer, and my dad (Harry), who battled prostrate and colon cancer and when he passed had been diagnosed with lung cancer, and most recently my oldest brother (Harry Michael) passed away two Augusts ago, who also battled prostate cancer. Furthermore, I will be playing in honor of two of my sisters (Cynthia - who is battling breast cancer, and Donna - Deborah’s identical twin - who was told it wasn’t if but when she would have to face it), and a brother (Denis - battling prostate cancer). This is in addition to the many other relatives and friends who were lost to or are fighting cancer. I so far have been fortunate, but am monitored closely by my doctors who don’t let me miss my at least bi-annual appointments, which I am truly thankful for.
The organizations the 11 Day Power Play currently support include Make-A-Wish of Western New York, Camp Good Days and Special Times, Roswell Park, and The Oishei Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders Program. This list continues to grow with the generosity of all of you!

The efforts of one person can't move mountains, it is the strength of all of us working together that moves those mountains and makes a change.
