Hello all! I need your help to break a world record for the world's longest hockey game and raise money to help combat cancer. I wish I could be playing hockey for 11 days straight for such an amazing cause that is so near and dear for me. My role in this years event will be that of volunteer and more specifically referee.
Like so many people, cancer has crept its way into my life and my family's life these past few years. I will be skating alongside of the courageous 40 men and women in this years event and in honor of some truly amazing and special people. First, is for my mom Beth. Over the chaos that has been 2020, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer and is currently finishing up her radiation treatments (March 2021).
Second is for my dad, Gary. My dad was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in 2016 and is currently in remission. Thirdly, I will be skating for my aunt Amy who is true warrior. Aunt Amy has had on again off again battles with breast cancer for the past 18 years.
I need your support! I am one of forty players playing in the world's longest hockey game to fight cancer outside in the elements. That's right 252 hours of hockey! Proceeds of the event will support cutting-edge cancer research and wellness programs at Roswell Park, Make-A-Wish WNY, Camp Good Days and Roswell Park and Oishei Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders Program.
