Hockey has taken me down so many different paths throughout my life, and once again it has brought me here. I have been fortunate enough to have been selected as one of the 40 players to compete in the 11 Day Power Play. Next November our team will compete in world's longest hockey game to fight cancer outside in the elements. That's right 252 straight hours of hockey! Will my body hold up? I have no idea, but damn I’m willing to try for such a great cause.
After watching my Aunt Debbie lose her 2 year battle with cancer, I feel it is extremely fitting for me to battle it out on the ice for her. My aunt never missed a home game from the time I was 5 years old till the time I left for college. She was my biggest fan, but also my most honest critic. I will be skating with her in my heart, along with the many other cancer fighters, survivors, and victims.
